Message from the Director

Dear Resident:

We are pleased to welcome you to the Bernards Township Health Department's website. We hope that this site will provide you with useful information on the latest public health issues and familiarize you with the many public health services offered by our department.
Public Health is about protecting people's health and well-being. With a population-based focus on prevention and health promotion, our work employs a spectrum of interventions aimed at the environment, human behavior and lifestyle, and clinical services.

The number one way to prevent the spread of colds and flu this season is by washing your hands or using hand sanitizer.  Click here for a quick three minute video on how to wash your hands and use hand sanitizer.

Our mission is to provide competent, professional and efficient public health                               and environmental services to the residents of our community. Through the delivery of              state mandated "Public Health Practice Standards of Performance for Local Boards of             Health in New Jersey" and the ordinances and policies of the Board of Health, we protect and promote the public's health by the use of health promotion and education,                        disease prevention, environmental enforcement and inspection activities.

Please take a moment to browse through the various pages in our website. If you have any questions or need information, please stop by the Health Department (located next to Ridge High School in Basking Ridge), email us, or give us a call! We are here to serve, protect and promote our community's health and safety.

Very truly yours,

Lucy A. Forgione, MS, HO, CHES
