ATOD & LGBTQ: The Rainbow Connection

Sponsored by the Bernards Township Health Department, Bernards Township Municipal Alliance & Youth Services Commission, the Somerset County Board of County Commissioners, the Lindsey Meyer Teen Institute, Partners in Prevention and the Governor's Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse.

This workshop will focus on understanding sexuality as more than just sexual orientation. We will explore gender identity, sexual orientation, biological sex, and gender expression to better understand the distinction between each. Risk factors that LGBTQ+ youth face will also be highlighted with a focus on substance misuse and how alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs are marketed to the LGBTQ+ community.  Participants will have an opportunity to discuss ways they can act as allies to the LGBTQ+ community.
